My wife and I drove to Clarksville, Tn to visit our son and his family. Got to meet two great grand kids that we hadn't met before their ages 3 and 4. That was a true treat, I lovem. We also stopped at Ft Campbell Kentucky, it has changed since I was there in in the late 60's

We went to midsouth shooters and I stocked up on powder, primers and some bullets.
I bought 55 gr varmint xtreme hollow points, does anyone have a good starting load for them as well as for 62 gr hornady match hollow points ?

Midsouth shooters supply , great company. Ft. Canpell Kentucky , another great place. Was stationed & trained there in 1966. The 223 also great but sorry it's been awhile since I fired them.
 
Midsouth Shooters Supply is a good place to do business with. Recently got 24 pounds of powder from them with free HAZMAT and the shipping wasn't much at all. Every time I have used them my orders ship promptly and never a problem one. They get my vote.

With the 62 gr. Hornadys, I use 24.0 grains of IMR-4895. Wonderful load in both my bolt .223's, as well as my AR.

As for the 55 gr. pills, a faster powder usually works better. I use 22.5 gr. of Hodgdon Benchmark, or IMR-3031, myself.

By the way, all of my .223's have 1:9 twist barrels. If your barrel twist is different (say 1:7 or 1:8, or even 1:12)....you likely will not get the same results as I have.
