Mid Range Scope Recommendation

I am in the process of building a .260 for long range paper punching. I wouldn't mind an occasional hunt for coyotes if the opportunity arose.

I'm considering the Zeiss MC Conquest and the Sightron SII Big Sky. As you can see, I am quite sure of the options I want.. mil-dot, 42-44mm, 14-16x mag, side focus. I'm not sure about different qualities of glass, as I've only used two or three scopes in the price range.

Is the Zeiss worth the extra $220? For once in my life budget won't be the end-all decision maker for me. I don't mind spending the money if I'm getting $200 worth of more quality.

I can't afford a Nightforce, and I know at least 18 people will recommend the Vortex instead, but is there anything else I should consider? I've looked at them and they are on the table, but for now I'm more interested in the Sightron/Zeiss. Not against a Leupold, but tend to not want them as I feel you are paying more just because of the name brand.

And finally, what does the MC stand for? Some websites I've found don't have the MC in the product name and tend to be cheaper. Different model? Same model and just cheaper website?

I have that same Ziess minus the Mil Dot reticle, Z-plex on mine. Its a very nice peice of glass. Mine is on a Sako 75 in 7mm08 that I hunt with. The optics are crystal clear, no glare and gather light realy well for low light hunting situations. I wouldn't hesitate to put another one on any rifle that I own but I have my eye on trying a Trijicon next.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'm leaning towards the Zeiss, but I'll certainly figure out a way to look through both before I make my purchase.

And for clarification, the Title of my post should have been "Mid Price Range Scope Recommendation". It was late, I was tired.. things happen. haha.

I'll be getting a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 this Christmas...wife gets an employee discount. Gotta love it. Funny thing is, I have nothing to put it on...lol.

+1 on the Zeiss. I have a couple of Zeiss scopes and they're solidly built and very clear.

I don't have any Sightron but I've seen good reviews on the Sightron SIII series so the SII should be in good company.

I have both and for the money they are great scopes, is the Conquest worth the extra $$$ yes it is. IMHO Both scopes are worth more (compared to other scopes) then they cost.

Just a comment and respective or your choices.

Leupold you pay for their presence. Others come and go, Leupold is here for the long term and their warranty is gold. I think that's worth a lot.

20 years form now, the scope goes bad they will fix it (my brother just had one sent in which they did).

I have both Sightron Big Sky as well as Leopold scopes. Both have good glass. The Sightron is a good scope for the money but I think the Leopold is mechanically superior. My shooting style uses a lot of sight adjustments back and forth. The clicks on the Leopolds are more distinct and crisp. If you're going to make a lot of adjustments while shooting ,IMO, the Leopold is a better choice.

I was going to say Vortex, but maybe your not a fan.....:o Hey 4Everm-14, Congrats on the presidents 100 man,, that's way out dude!!;):):D

thanks for the feedback everyone. Your experiences whether they agree with me or not is definitely good.

I haven't had a chance to look at a Vortex, but I will as soon as I can.. can't say I don't like them, just they fairly new to the game and with that kind of money that makes me a little uneasy. I guess you could say the same about the Sightron. But like I said, I'm still leaning towards the Zeiss.
