Michigan Handgun Laws?

Hello to all,

I am interested in using two handguns that my father recently purchased. He is fine with letting me take them to the range and even keeping them at my house. The first is an old nine shot .22 revolver and the other is a Baby Desert Eagle 9mm. What they are is irrelevant to my question I suppose. I need to know is it legal to keep and use a firearm registered to my father? Not concealed just to bring to the range or out to plink on private property. And what about transportation of the handguns? Can I transport a handgun that is not registered to myself? I have been wanting to get a pistol for myself but if I can use my fathers it will save me some $$ :D
 
written on the back of my handgun registration card is.... "State law prohibits the furnishing, loaning, giving or selling of this pistol to another unless that person (including gun dealers) first obtains a license to purchase a pistol. Violation of this law is a criminal offense. A cursory inspection has been made of this pistol presented. A check for operational or mechanical defects has not been made of this pistol." The awnser to your question seems to be in my understanding is no it seems illegal to handle or keep that firearm without constant supervision of the permit holder.

My interp. of Michigan law is as stated above. It is a crime if you use your dad's gun or have it without him being in constant supervision of it and it's use. Is he willing to sell it too you? I am unsure but I think legal wise he could sell it for $1.00 to you but all legal and proper paper work MUST be taken care of.

I have lived in Michigan in the past. If it was a rifle or shotgun you wouldn't have a problem. Since it's a handgun it's a different story. Even if you're just barrowing it you still need to get a permit to purchase, then you're good for like 7 days.
