Michael Moriarty has an epiphany

According the Wall Street Journal 9-26, B1, Moriarty, who played Ben Stone on Law and Order, had a public battle with Reno over violence on TV shows and censorship, moved to Canada, and is fighting excess government regulation and gun laws there.

Quotes:

"He says the confrontation transformed him from a Knee-jerk liberal to an ardent libertarian and supporter of free speech."

"Socialism is the triumph of mediocrity," says the 59 year old Vancouver resident of Canada's long progressive tradition. ...

"Mr. Moriarty keeps the controversy going, railing against Canada's 'oppressive' tax system, strict gun control laws and taxpayer-funded health-care system."

I read that article as well and was pleasantly surprised. I thought I was going to hear of another Alex Baldwin type idiot but Moriarty seems to be evolving as he ages.

ps Yes, I know it's "Alec", but I refuse to pay that awful creature any respect.

How can you guys stand to watch Law and Order?

It appears to be blatant liberal propoganda, to me. I hear the echoing "bunggg...." sound from the living room in the evenings and know that my wife is being re-programmed. Now it makes me cringe.

What's the deal?

Law and Order may touch on some issues and come off as incredibly liberal, but the fact is it's the best legal drama on TV, in terms of accuracy and timeliness. They depict very hot legal topics and depict them in a way that the average layperson could understand. Almost every show would be suitable as a question on a law exam. That's why I watch it (the only legal drama I can stand).

L&O is one of the few shows that NBC makes that I watch, with the execption of maybe 5 episodes I have not noticed much anti-gun slant. Remeber it is played out in a NYC court home of the Sullivan laws.

Yes the colombine episode was very bad, (and thown together but 2nd rate writers not the normal staff) but over all the show has been quite enjoyable.

Oh and GREAT theme music.

ADA. Stone is what I wish most ADA are like

Where as "Jack" is what I fear most of them want to be.

If I'm not mistaken, the reason Moriarty left the show was because of the leftist writing.

After the movie Holocaust, he remarked at one time, that an old woman came up to him on the street and slapped him across the face.

Nestor, this is precisely the take on these two I have. Jack is one scary fellow that would twist anything to convict even someone he knew was innocent.
