Any reccs on where to find some durable synthetic grips that AREN'T just injection molded plastic? *not that there's anything wrong with that if that is your thing*
www.smithandalexander.com 800/SA2-1911. FWIW "Carbon Creations makes 1911 grips....look kinda like snakeskin but steep @ ca. $80. Don't have his 800 # though. It may well be worth your while to call S&A the fellow I spoke with there was willing to go into detail on the merits of Micarta, even its "feel", etc.

I have a set of micarta grips on my Kimber that were made by Navidrex. The only place I have found them was a Brownells at www.brownells.com . They come in a couple of different colors and styles.
