Some good words for the rest of us also.

Vlade Garcia(legislator) - Why Gunowners must vote.
This fall, we will see an attack on gun owners like NEVER BEFORE. With redistricting, and control of the White House, Congress and the Michigan House of Representitives in stake, gun control advocates will use every means possible to defeat pro-Second Amendment candidates.
You can expect to see Columbine and the death of Kayla Rollins(Flint) revisited in the goriest manner possible.
You can expect to hear the number of people killed by guns consistently and constantly exaggerated.
Perhaps we may even see commercials like those used in Missouri to defeat the concealed weapons proposal. Even the newspapers decried the distortion of the truth.
Don't be surprised if the anti-gun folks stretch and ignore the truth. For them, the end(Getting rid of guns), justifies the means(Ignoring the facts). They will come across as sweet and well meaning and completely sincere. The only problem is they are totally wrong.
While a few of the gun control proposals may sound reasonable(the emphasis being on few and may), we have to remember that the thousands of current gun laws have done little to stem the misuse of guns. If they are successful in implementing even more restrictions, what will happen when this new batch of gun laws have also fail to stop more Columbines?
Two things will happen - either we will have a new set of proposals, or Congress and the legislature will start moving to take guns out of the public's possession.
I have never been, nor will I ever be, an alarmist, but the best way to defeat the gun control supporters in the upcoming election is not through fear. First and formost, we must all handle weapons in the most responsible manner possible.
We don't need to give them any more reasons for added gun control. Second, when you debate anti-gun people, stick to the facts. Don't exaggerate, don't fudge and always tell the truth. Third, don't use pure statistics. People get lost in statistics, and besides, both sides will use them in their arguments. This will cause people not to be sure who to believe.
It is essential then that we are able to demonstrate how illogical their position is. And despite the fact that both the US and the Michigan Constitution are on our side, this arguement falls on deaf ears because the government is able to regulate the sale and use of guns.
From a practical standpoint, gun owners must vote or all else is useless. They must also encourage their fellow hunters, sportsmen and neighbors to get out to vote. Numbers count on election day. Nothing else matters.
However, before we get to Election Day, we must convince those who may be swayed by the "reasonable" arguements made by the other side. To do this, you should hold neighborhood meetings to pass the word. Perhaps you can even schedule a pro-Second Amendment candidate to speak to your group.
There are other things you can do to assist these candidates, including putting up yard signs, going door to door, helping with mailings, or donating money. Every little bit helps.
This year, we don't have to go to far to see how bold the gun control crowd has become. A Million March Mom is spreading the gun control message in the heart of Alan Cropsey Country.
The home district of the man who brought us CCW is under assault by an ambitious and tenacious gun control advocate. She claims to be for sensible gun laws, but just last month she held a seminar on how gun control supporters can get involved on the campus of Lansing Community College. Even now she says one thing and does another.
Even though this is a strong Second Amendment district, you cannot take this race for granted. Money will come to her from around the country It's up to you to make a difference. If you don't stand up for your rights here, expect to see then continue to erode around the country.
Even after the Speaker of the House and pro-gun groups compromised on the trigger lock issue(exchange for Lawsuit immunity), the liberals wanted more. For them, it is all or nothing. They wanted their trigger locks without giving gun manufacturers immunity.
It is extremely difficult to negotiate with them, and this is why it is essential to elect people who share your views on this issue.
I would like you to remember that it is still possible to have the attorney general sure gun manufacturers.(So far she hasn't commented on it one way or the other) It is also possible for individuals to sue the manufactuers if a gun is defective. And still, they want more. You can only stop them at the polls.
So, this . . . fall on Nov 7, it will be up to you to defend our Second Amendment rights. This is where it all begins.
Publisher's Note
Representitive Garcia is a first-term legislator who was the key sponsor of two bills which would have provided gun manufacturers immunity from civil suits filed by local governments. The concept formed one half of the the bill recently signed into law by the governor that provided immunity, but required trigger locks.
While Rep. Garcia does not personally own a weapon, he is an ardent supporter of the Second Amendment (Probably #2 person behind Sue Talbor). He has also handled weapons all of his adult life while serving in the US Army, US Army reserve, and Michigan National Guard.
