Given the same rifle, would choose the .270 for the bit flatter trajectory....No, I would choose the .308 because it's a short action......No, the .270 is a bit more versatile if I wanna go out west......No the .308....No the .270...
Dammit, I can't decide. It would come down to which caliber was available in the exact rifle I chose.....but that's another tough decision entirely
I don't need any more of a selection in available .270 caliber bullets than the Remington Core-Lokt 130 grain bullets. I'm not hunting Grizz, and if I go after Moose or Elk, I can get 150 grain bullets. But for big game like eastern Whitetail deer, Black Bear, wild hogs, all the way down to fox, coyote and woodchucks, the 130 grain .270 round is PERFECT. With low recoil, flat trajectory, high velocity, perfect accuracy and bone smashing power, when Winchester developed the .270 cartridge back in 1925 for hunters, they sure did their research.
Your right Shurshot, the 130 Core Lokts are a very fine cartridge. I shoot them as well and they shoot better for me than any other ammo other than reloads. But for 20 bucks a box I can shoot them at .5" moa fairly consistantly and never over 1"
