Thank You and Merry Christmas- Esp. the TFL Staff

As we near the end of another wonderful year here at TFL, I'd like to take a minute to Thank the staff of TFL. The countless hours of your 'donated' time has made this the best gun forum on the internet.

You have not only constructed and maintained a forum that is full of much wisdom but are responsible for providing a platform where gun/hunting enthusiasts can come together. Many friends between members have been made that would not have happened if not for your countless efforts.

With that note...

...on behalf of all the members here at TFL, again...

...THANK YOU and Happy Holidays

One of the biggest reasons I am on TFL is because it is a respectful place. I think the biggest reason that is, is because the Mods are on top of their game. I have found other forums when Googling something and those other forums are often full of foul language and rude members.

Thanks to the Mods for encouraging a good atmosphere.

In relation to guns I also think they have a vast amount of knowledge to share. its a shame a lot of their time is used on things other then furthering good discussions.

Yeh, I know I'm a Sailor, but Soldier works better with the rhyming of the poem

Was the night before Christmas,
he lived all alone,
in a one bedroom house,
made of plaster and stone.

I had come down the chimney,
with presents to give,
and to see just who,
in this home, did live.

I looked all about,
a strange sight I did see,
no tinsel, no presents,
not even a tree.

No stocking by mantle,
just boots filled with sand,
on the wall hung pictures,
of far distant lands.

With medals and badges,
awards of all kinds,
a sober thought,
came through my mind.

For this house was different,
it was dark and dreary;
I found the home of a soldier,
once I could see clearly.

The soldier lay sleeping,
silent, alone,
curled up on the floor,
in this one bedroom home.

The face was so gentle,
the room in disorder
not how I pictured,
a true soldier.

Was this the hero,
of whom I’d just read?
Curled up on a poncho,
the floor for a bed?

I realized the families,
that I saw this night,
owed their lives to these soldiers,
who were willing to fight.

Soon round the world,
the children would play,
and grownups would celebrate,
a bright Christmas day.

They all enjoyed freedom,
each month of the year,
because of the soldiers,
like the one lying here.

I couldn't help wonder,
how many lay alone,
on a cold Christmas Eve,
in a land far from home.

The very thought brought,
a tear to my eye,
I dropped to my knees,
and started to cry.

The soldier awakened
and I heard a rough voice,
"Santa don't cry,
this life is my choice

I fight for freedom,
I don't ask for more,
my life is my god,
my country, my corps...”

the soldier rolled over,
and drifted to sleep,
I couldn't control it,
I continued to weep.

I kept watch for hours,
so silent and still,
and we both shivered,
from the cold night's chill.

I did not want to leave,
on that cold, dark, night,
this guardian of honor
so willing to fight.

Then the soldier rolled over,
with a voice soft and pure,
whispered, "carry on Santa,
its Christmas day, all is secure.

One look at my watch
and I knew he was right.
"Merry Christmas my friend
and to all a good night."

A Very Merry Christmas to all whom are serving this Great Country and all whom have served Her

God Bless You All

Merry Christmas to All and to All a Good Night!

What's a Merry Christmas to me? No snow on the ground, 40 degree weather, and 100 rounds down range with my Sigma. First trip to the range since I had the trigger smoothed. I think the smoother trigger helped my accuracy, it definitely made it just a little more fun.

Anyone else have any trigger time today?

Went to the range yesterday in 30-ish temperatures, with a mix of wet snow/rain falling.

Didn't stay too long, as my hands started getting numb after awhile, but had some fun with my Bersa Thunder .22 and my Sig P229.

Much colder today, will have to wait until it either warms up or until the indoor range opens on 5 January

Well its an indoor range, so weather isn't really a factor. I just hate Minnesota winters so 40 degrees on Christmas eve is like a dream come true for me.

I'm going to do a little ammo making tomorrow, maybe a bit tonight.
Day after Christmas, I've driving 2 hours one-way to pick up a gun in a deal I've arranged.
