This magazine is usually pretty decent, not sissified like GQ, with articles about excercise, health, etc. March issue, in a fashion segment, they had a insert from Kenneth Cole. Her is a copy of the letter I sent to their website, menshealth.com.
I am a former subscriber, and my wife was considering giving me a new subscription. I'm glad she hasn't. I was angered to come across the following insert in your March issue:
"Dear Gun Manufacturers, Congratulations, your product is making a real killing.
- Kenneth Cole
cc: The NRA, Gun Show Dealers, 1 in 4 American Households, Charleston Heston, The State of Texas, and GI Joe"
This, in an issue that laments the feminization of boy's literature "Stevenson's novels have fallen out of favor...because they feature minors using guns & tobacco", and says in the Editor's letter "...we bought our freedom by not caring about Puffy Combs' parties or Ellen's love life". Indeed. We bought our Freedom - and Kenneth Cole's, by blood, sweat, tears, ... and guns. And those freedoms are preserved by a little something called the Bill of Rights - Mr. Cole and the editors of MH should take a gander some time. Don't stop at the 1st Amendment, which guarantees your right to print what you want - read on to the Second, you might be enlightened.
If I want this kind of Liberal, sissified, PC nonsense, I'll buy GQ. The cc: list sounds to me like a demographic that the publisher of MH might not want to alienate. MH will get no more of my $ with this kind of advertising - I'd rather send it to the NRA.
