Some tears for my brothers...

As I take pause to reflect on those absent from roll call this late May day, I wish to thank all who served our country in this simple soldiers way.

Thank you Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines my appreciation, love and respect to you all.

And a special thanks to the loved ones and family members who's heroes did not return from battle. Thank you one and all.

Please remember and remind others of what the final Monday in May is all about. It is decoration day for our fallen brothers.

You attention is invited to some simple prose.

"We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force."

--Ayn Rand, in "The Nature of Government"

I haven't treated it as a holiday. I bought a poppie from one even older than me. Then went to the range and did some drills. The bad guys got special treatment as I was shooting for fallen forebearers, fallen teachers, fallen buddies and those who have fallen since I retired nearly thirty years ago.

RIP patriots and may we not waste that for which you fought.

Nikita Khrushchev predicted confidently in a speech in Bucharest, Rumania on June 19, 1962 that: " The United States will eventually fly the Communist Red Flag...the American people will hoist it themselves."

Here's to the Grandfather I never knew.

And to all others who fought for our country, thank you. May you never be forgotten.

I watched with a lump in my throat and misty eyes the Memorial Day tribute on PBS from Washington DC last night.

I watched as Charles Durning, a Silver Star recipient himself, read an account of one survivor's story of the Chosin Resivoir in Korea.

This soldier was left behind during the evacuation as he was too seriously wounded to make the trip across the frozen lake. The Chinese tried to set all of the trucks on fire with the wounded US GIs still inside. The trucks that wouldn't burn were entered and each wounded soldier was shot between the eyes. This man survived with a serious head wound and was left for dead. Later the corpses were robbed of valuables. Again this man played dead. When he was found to be still alive, only his body heat had given him away. He was dragged from the truck, beaten and left for dead, and thrown on a pile of corpses. Still this man wouldn't die. He then crawled on his hands and knees, over the space of several hours or days, across the frozen lake to the US lines. The Army medics didn't think he would make it. He was medevaced to Japan, where he stunned the doctors by his will to live. He lost both feet and all of his fingers to frostbite, but he survived.

This brave man was present in the audience last night.

He and his wife raised seven children, including two Korean orphans.

Bill Clinton doesn't deserve to be in the same country with a brave man like this one! I'm glad he wasn't on the guest list for this event!

I never lost any family in combat because I am the first to be a veteran. My family immigrated to the US 20 years ago.

During my recent business trip to Germany and France, I had the opportunity to visit Normandy. Upon seeing the cemetary and the bunkers on Omaha, tears flowed freely down my face. The sacrifices and courage of the WW II vets on D-Day is unbelievable. If any of our children should look for a hero, look no farther than the thousands of young and old soldiers that gave up their lives to preserve ours.

I will stop at 1500 today and stand in a moment of silent prayer for you Vets and those that now serve. Too many of sheeple will treat the day as nothing more than a chance to have the day off and go to sales.

It is not PC to reflect on the country's military past and the wars we have gone thru. More is the pity.
