Melonite on a stainless revolver.

Anyone out there have a stainless revolver that has been melonite treated?

How does it hold up to wear?

Thinking of doing one of my Clapp edition GP100's in it. They are already satin bead blasted and I think it would look good in melonite.

Any input and advise on vendors would be appreciated. I have heard good things about Coal Creek Armory which would likely be by first go to for this project.

Melonited SS looks pretty good. I had a 416R SS benchrest barrel treated with "Melonite QPQ" a few years ago to see if it would hold match quality accuracy longer than a untreated barrel. Sold the gun before I had the chance to fully test it.
Anyway... long story short, as the barrel was a combination of high polish and matte blasted fluting, it looked great to my eye... it had a depth to it not unlike black chrome.
