Personally I'd prefer a poke in the eye with a sharp stick (or an afternoon of BBQ Spam and scorpion sandwiches with C.R.Sam) to any more of this guy. I only hope he's actually gone back to Canada where he can help them with their societal problems up there by reporting the native citizens to the feds when they fail to respect his NATO "authoritay."

That's not very neighborly, Herr Sumabich. JamesE - no rants - just stating my OPINION, like everyone else here. If you don't like it, don't read it. And yes, I left the US Army as a Tank Platoon Sergeant, after 13 years.

HelgeS is gutless like all socialists, even the ones in our government. He's not man enough to stand by what he posted and defend his position as a true American would.
Panzer, I understand your feelings and my wife is of German ancestory. However, your handle does inspire fury among those who served in WWII or suffered adversely from it.
I still believe Germany should always be closely watched. As long as Israel is a nation, they will always have to factor in the ill effects of fall-out while considering pulling another "today Germany; tommorow the world".
Panzer, too much water has gone under the proverbial bridge and as long as there are Americans who know history and have watched movies like SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, guys like HelgeS will have a hard time pushing their views.
Many do not know that one of the favorite methods the SS used for instilling terror with new Concentration Camp inmates was to throw a couple of babies up in the air and shoot them or smash their heads in with the butts of a Mauser K98. The Ukrainian guards loved to insert their bayonets into the body cavities of female prisoners for enjoyment after a night of booze. These are the facts not weblore.
I'm sorry to be so blunt but it's only fair that people who use handles which have connotations to the third reich know exaclty what Germany was about and what they stood for during WWII. When I see someone wearing Nazi memorabilia, I cringe and I'm not Jewish BTW.

Thanx WBA. I guess if folks have trouble letting go of the Civil War/of Northern Aggression, then I shouldn't be surprised that WWII is so difficult. My handle simply means Tank Commander, or Driver - there is no hidden meaning in it. Should be no problem for anybody.
I spent 13 yrs in the US Army. I am also the great-grandson of German immigrants, and understand varying viewpoints on Germany. Personally, I find the Nazis and their deeds repugnant, but it is ridiculous to paint all Germans with the Nazi brush. Kinda like painting all Southerners as Rednecks.
I simply think that many countries bear watching, and it is wrong to single out any one. As I said before, conquest can be achieved by other than military means.

I like German food and I used to love German beer before I gave it up. As much as I don't care for HelgeS's views, we have much more to worry about from the likes of the Democratic Socialists in America. I won't mention any names but it seems some of them should brush up on some of the results of European Gun Control in the 30's and 40's.
Panzer, I for one hope you don't leave and quite frankly, when people post on here but state that they will only respond on e-mail, it should be a policy that the thread is automatically DOA.

OK WBA, I can accept that. Not sure where you are coming from though in thinking that I would leave. I've been here a while, love it, and would never think of leaving. In fact, I'm trying to get many of my brethren on this BB to move to Vermont - the real land of the free.
I didn't jump in here spoiling for a fight - far from it. I know some folks have probs with my handle, but they are usually OK when I explain what it means. It is just a way to express two of my loves: tanks and the German language. After all, everyone in Germany with a Fuehrerschein (Driver's License) is not automatically a Nazi.
Your point about the Democratic Socialists is well-made. This was my thinking when I posted earlier that even in the US, the Gov't purports to know what is best for the individual.

Ah ain't messing with no panzerfuehrer that drives a tank, he's got me out gunned. Now, if I could find me a German WW2 surplus Faustpatrone I might be able to get to the grocery store in one piece. Hey, chill out panzerdude, we ain't in no flap over your German heiritage. But if you understood the emotions of a lot of the veterans on this board you would consider changing your handle, but I expect you won't and that's your business. It's also our business to not like the history of panzerfuehrers from German history. They have ruined any chance of deserving our respect for all the attrocities they commited, and I know you are going to say well look at all the attrocities the U.S. has commited. The tally doesn't even come close to the German ones, so please give us a break on the subject. Otherwise, what's happening in Vermont.
