Medusa 47?

I've never tried it yet, but I'm tempted to get a Medusa 47 for its caliber interchangability. Seems not too pricey -- if you can even find one. Anyone shoot these?

They're neat guns, but there is another option.

Buy a Astra M400 and a spare extractor. It will safely chamber and fire most 9mm autopistol cartridges. Furthermore they're odd looking so they can usually be purchased fairly inexpensively. It will chamber 9x23 and .38 Super but it is not safe to fire those two cartridges in this gun.

Next buy a used GP100. It will chamber most 38/357 revolver cartridges.

With these two firearms you should cover most of the cartridges that the Medusa will--all of the more common ones for sure--and you will probably spend a good deal less money.

These things have been known to have problems with their extractors, as they are odd. I would advice against this, because what enjoyment you would have gotten out of being able to shoot the various calibers, will be overshadowed by the problems you will encounter because of the ability to chamber these calibers.

Thanks for the advice. I'm usually for the option that involves more guns, especially if I can convince the little woman I need them!

You might want to do a bit of research on the Astra before you buy one. They're strange guns, but kind of neat.

Actually, if I were you, I'd just get the GP100 and whatever 9mm tickles your fancy and forget about the cartridge interchangeability.

I went through the entire list of cartridges that the Medusa is supposed to chamber, and most of them were cartridges you've probably never heard of.

9mm Largo, 9x21, 9mm Ultra, 38S&W, 38ACP, etc.
