"medium" frame Blackhawk vs "regular" frame

Hi All,

I realize that this is quite individual due to hand size , etc, but I wondered if anyone found the meium frame BH guns to be harder/easier on the knuckles than the larger , regular BH guns. I have a medium framed 44 special on layaway and I'm finding myself increasing drawn toward the regular frame in 357. Any inout is very much appreciated!

Well, the .44 is going to give you a little more "knuckle rap" that a .357 Magnum simply because you're throwing a heavier bullet. But I've not had any problems with my .44 Special, though it does have the XR-3RED grip frame. I'm shooting a 240 gr. SWC at about 1000 fps out of my .44s with no problem.

MINE has the XR-3RED grip frame. The Ruger Flat Tops have the XR-3.

My .44 is an old three screw .357 Magnum with an Old Army steel grip frame.

Hovever, I aslo habe a Uberti Model P which has the Colt-style grip, no problems.

Personally, I don't find them any different rapping the 'Knuckle' wise. If you have a problem with this in the XR3-RED grip frame, you'll have the same problem in the XR3 grip frame. YMMV....

On another note, I wish Ruger would drop the .357 'large frame' revolver as the medium frame flattops are the 'perfect' platform the the .357. The large frames are just overkill for the peanut caliber.
