media terms that are ruining our freedoms on an hourly basis

i was reading an article on the washington post web site and the terms they used just chapped my ass so i htought a little rant would do me good.
the terms are: extended magazine or extended clip, belly gun, saturday night special, assault weapon, and the list goes on and on and on. but they only use these terms when something bad is done with a gun.

when something good is done with one, if they even print a story on it, they will just use terms like handgun, gun, clip, magazine, bullet ect.
wich tells me that they are out to make things like hi-caps, assault weapons, 25 acp guns and so on look bad and evil by using them specificaly in storys about gun violence.

end of rant.

m_d_atwood, welcome to TFL!

Two can play the word game ... and, it is an important 'game'.

Check out the Politically Corrected Glossary of Terma at http://www.gunlaws.com/politicallycorrect.htm

Let the anti-self defense gun bigots know you've got their number, and they better keep their paws off your household firearms, sidearms and full capacity mag's.

The Washington Post is "Pravda East" and uses
propaganda techniques that would make Josef Goebbels blush.

They and the media in general have become intellectual prostitutes for the government line. For good reason, reporters are now referred to as "presstitutes". Remind the reporter/editor of that any time you write -- they have thin skins.

The infuriating thing is that these people are Past Masters as coining a catchy phrase that the sheeple immediately accept.

The gun laws site is a good start. And the point to confront these people is well-taken.
I used to let it slide as a mark of their ignorance, but that only gave the statement currency.

Also mention the 'government-media complex' ... you know ... that unholy alliance between leftist media and the Clinton administration (not to mention some state and local governments). [This is a take off on the 'military-industrial complex' cited by Eisenhower.]

The media too often is cozy with the 'establishment', and their watchdog role is simply quaint history.

The counter sound byte that works is no longer, " TAX AND SPEND". It now seems to be, "BIG GOVERNMENT".

The reason one anti gun woman voted pro gun in a referendum was the big government issue. This is our crossover hit. Use it.
