Medals In 5 Straight Olympics for Kimberly Rhode

Wonder if they will pay as much attention to this as they do Phelps being a swimming flop?

We won a silver in archery. I take it that is a rare event for the USA.

Kim didn't win 5 gold medals......she set the record for an American by winning medals in "5 straight Olympics". In doing so she has got the Gold in London with a 99 out of 100 score.

Her count is now 3 Golds. one silver, and one bronze.

Title corrected

Very impressive.

All these people amaze me.

I wish I could be that good at anything, ever.

Heck, I wish I could be good enough to make it to the Olympics and finish LAST in anything.:o

She and her Dad did an exhibition shoot at our club back in 1999......she hung upside down shooting skeet while her father held her legs over his shoulders. Hit 50 for 50 upside down. Wish I had taken pictures of it.....super nice family.

You are correct sir. I changed the title to the thread at the last minute and mistyped:o

Gotta admire a gal that built and drives her own custom car (427 Cobra) and still shoots competitively at the top of her game after 20 years.

The thing that really amazes me is not so much being able to do it, even with consistency, but being able to do under the *pressure cooker* of elite, world-wide attention and competition.
The pressure of even local competition, with nothing at stake but maybe a $3 ribbon, CRUSHES some competitors.
To be that good, for that long, under so much pressure, is beyond my imagination.

Amazing Women.

athletes in residence were asked to write down everything they could not do.

Rhode didn't move.

''The coach says to her, 'Why aren't you writing?''' Richard Rhode said. ''And she goes, 'Well, I don't think there's anything I can't do if I put my mind to it.'

That's what I call "Mental Management".

As compared to Phelps, I wasn't ready or in shape - wah, wah. Or that idiot basketball player wearing googles because he got a bottle in the eye in a sleaze bar fight.

Who's a role model.

Who's a role model.

In my opinion, Kim Rhodes is!!!! I had the opportunity to meet and shoot with her in NC once. She is one of the nicest, most humble people you could ever hope to meet.
I didn't know who she was when she came onto the field and wondered why the other 3 guys I had been shooting with suddenly decided to "sit one out". After the first round she had me by one bird (25/24) but I had also figured out that this wasn't her first rodeo. At the end of the hundred she had me by 3 (99/96) In my defense, she was shooting 12 and I was shooting 28 but it doesn't matter because she was CRUSHING all of her hits and I had a few "golden BB" birds.
In the end SHE thanked ME for shooting with her and shook my hand. She never told me who she was, it wasn't until after she had departed that someone told me she was an olympic competitor and medal holder. Knock me over with a feather!!!!! I packed up and went home.....

What a cool story from Bailey Boat. I have seen Ms. Rhode's accomplishment mentioned on several news and sports capsules, so it is getting some positive attention. Really good to know that she is so humble and gracious, as well.

As with all the American teams and individual athletes..You gotta be GOOD to make the team...but to Medal you have to be GREAT, and to do it in FIVE Straight Olympic Competitions is absolutely AMAZING. Makes me want to live to see her in RIO in 2016. :D:D:D
