Mec Gar mags for Kimber?

I see that some of the new Kimbers are coming with Mec Gar mags, and I'm wondering if anyone's had any experience with them in their Kimbers. Looks like the design would solve the problem of slide lockback that the Shooting Star mags had. Also, if they are reliable, where's a good source for a good price?

Thanks,
Dick

I have a MecGar mag that I've been using in my Classic Target Stainless for a couple of years now. No problems at all. In fact, all of my 1911-style mags work fine in my Kimber, except for a couple of unmarked milsurp mags I bought a gun show in the late '70s, and the original mag that came with the Kimber.

Mec-Gars are my choice for my Kimbers...I got two of the with a new Charles Daly and started using them in my Kimbers without a hitch. I'm happy to hear that Kimber is using Mec-Gars...I hope they are the 8 round version. ( and they ought to include 2 of them like you get with a $320. Charles Daly)

BTW, if you are using a shock buff in a Kimber there is a good chance that it may cause the slide not to stay open after the last round.

I purchased my first 1911 in January, a Kimber Classic Stainless Target, and have been looking to buy extra mags for it. I've looked at the mag that came with the gun and have not been able to find any distinguishable marks that would tell what brand it is. The recommended replacements, from what I've seen in previous posts, have been McCormick Shooting Stars, Mec-Gar, and Wilson Combat. Does Mec-Gar make a stainless 7 or 8 rounder? I've seen the blued in Cheaper-Than-Dirt. Any other recommendations of places with good prices and selection would be appreciated.
Thanks. Jim
