Mec-Gar magazines for Mini-14

I read in this forum that someone obtained some new Mec-Gar magazines for the Mini-14. I have never used Mec-Gar magazines before, but I have read good things about them. So I was very interested to hear that they were introducing magazines for the Mini.

Unfortunately, the claim must have been erroneous. I contacted Mec-Gar and this was the response I received today:
Thank you for your interest in Mec-Gar magazines. Unfortunately Mec-Gar does not manufacture magazines for the Mini-14, nor are there future plans to make this magazine.

Perhaps if we all wrote letters to the company, they might reconsider...
 
I'd buy 'em for sure. Mec-Gar is about the only aftermarket mag I really trust. I'd be pleased as could be with blue and/or stainless Mec-Gar 10-rounders for the Mini-14.

I bought my Mini-14 with Ruger factory 20- and 30-round mags in mind. These were available then, and I bought a couple of them--but not nearly enough, as it turned out. When I first learned about Bill Ruger's unilateral decision to sell only 5-round mags for the Mini, I believed (and I still believe) that he betrayed his loyal customers who'd paid their good money for his products.

A Mec-Gar 10-rounder wouldn't undo what Ruger did--and what Ruger continues to do, by not making a 10-round Ruger factory mag for the Mini. But it'd help minimize the effect of his action.

My two cents.
 
Received an email from John Masen this past week saying they are shipping a new batch of 10rd Mini 14 mags. It is my understanding that they have been in the process of retooling the machinery making these as they have had problems with past batches.

When I get mine I'll take them to the range and post my impressions of them.
