Are they as good as the other mags MecGar makes? The local shop as a bunch of Mec Gar 8 rounders so I thought I would check with the experts before purchasing :)

Cobraman,
I have no experience with Mec Gar 8 round .45 mags. I don't care for the enlarged, plastic attachment on the bottom. After friend Stephen Camp highly recommended them, I have obtained several of their SEVEN rounders over the past few wears. Only trouble I had with 'em was when I got in a hurry and reassembled one incorrectly, but that was my error, not theirs.

I am also very satisfied with the two 9 mm and one .40 Browning High Power mags I have from the company. And I have used a lot of their products furnished with Kel Tec 9mm and .32 ACP pistols, also without problems.

Best,

I've got some of the Mec-Gar 8 rounders. I've only put a couple of hundred rounds through 2 of them, but so far they've worked perfectly.

Hello Cobraman. I prefer the 7 round magazines because the eights for me have not as often been reliable in ALL my 1911s. They can also be difficult to seat when the slide's forward on a live round also. The sevens give no problems in that regard. Having said all that, I used some Mec-Gar 8 round magazines I have in a pistol class I took recently in which about 500 rounds were fired. The Mec-Gar magazines seated without undue effort and fed perfectly. They never failed to engage the slide stop when the mag was empty nor did they cause the slide lock to prematurely hold open. In short, they worked just fine. Best.

I had two and they always worked.

Outstanding mags in 7 and 10 rounders, and reasonably priced. No experience with 8 rounders.

I had several of the 10-rounders, and I thought they were (don't hit me!) every bit as good as the Wilsons.

These gusy make the mags for the Sig P220 that are sold with the guns "FACTORY"... Right?

Dont here too often about a P220 failure do you? Hmmm... P220 is a Single column .45 right? 8 rounds, isn't it?

Hmmm... putting two and two together, I get 8 round MecGars! :D

Now, if they just made one that fit flush in my Detonics - I would be tickled!
