Me and Colts.............

I bought my first Colt in 1954, a well used New Service bought through mail order. Became my first custom revolver. I didn't buy another revolver until 1958 when I bought a Ruger Blackhawk. I became fond of the Ruger and that became my favorite. Around 1960 I bought a Colt Frontier Scout .22 R.F. Along the way I went through many Colt double revolvers, M1917s, Officers Model Match, Python, none of which really interested me. The target grade guns were used while I shot NRA bullseye matches. Also owned a Gold Cup along the way. I might add I went through a long list of Smith & Wesson revolvers along the way.

About 1983 I picked a .45 Colt New Frontier, and along with my Blackhawks and Super Blackhawks, the Single Action revolver was just me.

Now, over the years I've picked up a right smart amount of Colts, with one exception, all New Frontiers.

No accounting for taste I guess-all of these handguns have always been very interesting to me (I like sa revolvers too but my serious shooting endeavors started with Bullseye competition in the early sixties and it's still my favorite shooting game). "Each to their own" and "whatever floats you boat" are adages that seem especially apropos when discussing firearm likes and dislikes.

Love the photos of your Colt revolvers, Bob. Nice collection indeed.

In looking over my post, and your reply, maybe I could have stated that a little better. I was deeply interested in those at the time, and, like you, participated in bullseye shooting about the same time as you did. But it was the long range shooting, and hunting, that swayed my interests at that time.

I have always been interested in just about anything that burns gunpowder.

Very beautiful! I know you carry them for defense. I personally would chose an autoloader, but you appear to be very proficient with them for sure.
 
Very nice! I like my single actions, but prefer the smooth profile without the adjustable sights. I suppose if I shot them at long range, or hunted with them, I'd prefer the New Frontiers.
 
I finally bought a new pistol, first in many years. A Blackhawk was put up in the trade room, 6.5 barrel, adj sights, excellent condition, couldn't resist. God help me, I wish that it was a vaquero, but it makes me glad to have it. I'll assemble a holster over the next year or so, it's going to be sweet with the adjustable and the long sight plane.
