McMillan Manufacturing and the BofA

Yesterday (Thurs. Apr. 19th) Kelly McMillan wrote on his companies FaceBook page: http://www.facebook.com/McMillanGroupInternational/posts/10150946905673368

Today it was picked up by Bob Owens writing for PJ Media http://pjmedia.com/blog/breaking-bank-of-america-reportedly-drops-gun-company-for-political-reasons/, and Mike Piccione writing for The Daily Caller: http://dailycaller.com/2012/04/20/anti-gun-bank-of-america-tells-gun-company-to-find-another-bank/.

What's the story?

McMillan Fiberglass Stocks, McMillan Firearms Manufacturing, McMillan Group International were about to have the BofA sever their credit line, because McMillan was now more of a Firearms Manufacturer than an accessories business.

According to Kelly, he fired them first. Kelly writes on his FB page, "I think it is import for all Americans who believe in and support our 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms should know when a business does not support these rights. What you do with that knowledge is up to you. When I don’t agree with a business’ political position I can not in good conscience support them. We will soon no longer be accepting Bank of America credit cards as payment for our products."

I expect "soon" will be when they have retired their debt and closed their accounts.

Remember, BofA has accepted somewhere on the order of $135 Billion dollars of last years bail-out monies. They are a company "Too Big To Fail." Time to write to the Congress and start demanding this company to return the taxpayers money!

Odd seeing that BofA promotes their military banking. IMO its worthless when you have usaa out there.

Good read, wonder if there is any WH influence in bofa because of the bailouts.

Read the news last nite about BOA ending their long term banking relationship with McMillian. BOA openly admitted it was because of McMillian's business with firearms. I do not have any dealings with BOA but I hope this bites them hard.

I have a BOA account and I have used that CC to buy a LOT of firearms that I would not have been able to get at the time without a trip to the bank to withdraw cash.

They may not like it, but they are supporting the firearms manufacturers by allowing me to have sufficient credit to buy what I want.

What would be a better solution?

Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.

It is not realistic to want to change CC companies because the CC company/bank makes the decision to terminate business ties with a company for dealing in firearms.

I would likely not get the same credit limit with a new company and who is to say a new company won't do the same thing?

Geetarman:(

This is on many of the gun forums & a sticky on some. This is the first time I feel I can be proactive to protect my gun rights. I'm cancelling my BOA cards on Monday. I will stop at the bank & let them know the reason why.
I found out about 2 weeks ago that BOA took over the credit card I had with my local bank. My wife & I will change our credit card comp. because of their anti-gun stance. There are plenty of others to choose from.
I sent this thread around to almost everyone I know & want to see how many will take a stand against BOA & inconvenience themselves a bit & change credit cards. This is one small step the gun community can take & possibly have an effect on our threatened gun rights.
I will stop at my bank & tell them why I'm leaving & hope it gets back to BOA.
There are enough of us to produce a backlash that will make others reconsider before they tread on the 2nd amend.

They bought a mortgage on one of my houses a couple years ago… It was time to refinance anyway because of rates. This’ll just get me off my butt to do what I needed to do anyway. :o

I haven't done business with BofA for years now. I even refinanced my Countrywide mortgage a few years ago simply because BofA took them over. I just felt that CW was a marginally less criminal enterprise than BofA.

Good to hear about their anti gun manufacturer stance though, means even more people will refuse to do business with them.

USAA has its own share of customer service and "policy" issues...
They aren't much better than BoA. In some ways, they're arguably worse.

I stopped doing business with them when I figured out that they cheated school children.

We used to have a bankbook savings account when I was a kid and every Thursday was bank day at school. We would bring our envelope to school with our deposit and our bankbook and they would be collected and sent to the bank for processing. A couple of days later, the teacher would issue the bankbooks back to us in preparation for next Thursday's deposit.

What they didn't tell the kids was that if they did not update their account every year they would get no interest. So these kids that had accounts with B of A who cashed out the account several years later were paid face value of the account with no interest.

Last December Forbes listed the top 100 banks in America starting with the strongest and going down to the weakest at number 100. Bank of America came in at 91. Glad I bank with a local credit union.

When it became know that policy was to give credit cards to people with no ID's, that was enough.
Ordered a McMillan about 2 months ago hopefully it'll be done this month.

Batting 100%.

Bank of America has repeatedly shown itself to be a corrupt institution not worthy of the trust people put in it. This is one of a long, nasty list of reasons to avoid that bank like the plague.

This isn't the first time BofA has screwed with a company because of guns. We closed our accounts and cards with them a few years ago. Switched to a local credit union and we get true no fee checking, friendly service and no corporate PC BS.
