I wish I understood more about government and politics. But to be honest, I know I don't know enough to form an informed opinion. I don't know the basic differences between Republicans and Democrats. What is the alternative to a two party system? A senate like the Romans used? Weren't they two party as well?
I must admit however, I believe Clinton was a lying, corrupt, and morally reprehensible person. I believe Bush, had good intentions going into his presidency, and screwed the pooch like it's never been screwed in the history of pooch screwing. But between dems and repubs, who else was left to vote for last election that would have been a better choice, had the knowledge of today's events been existent back then?
I had a thread many moons ago asking to educate me about political ways of the road. Unfortunately it got derailed by off-topic posters.
Here's another thing I don't understand. A sky rocketing crime rate. Trash, debris, and refuse still lying in the street, (all according to CNN). Where the hell did all the money that was payed from taxes, borrowed from taxpayers, and borrowed from other countries, to help New Orleans go!? What is the government doing about it? And what will they do when, what I believe is the inevitable happens, New Orleans is wiped off the map again in the next few months? Are they just going to dust off the same old commercial video tapes asking for donations and aid?
To be fair, with 9/11, Katrina, school shootings, gas prices, and every other smaller thing I may have forgotten to mention. With all this happening, Bush did have his hands full. But given the status of each of these problems, him and his staff don't seem to have done a good job.
So what I want to know, as an uneducated potential voter (probably due to the nations school system) what is the alternative, the shining light option that will make all the problems go away never to return. Is there even such a thing in politics?
