McGovern to Meet With Congress on War

LINCOLN, Neb.

George McGovern, the former senator and Democratic presidential candidate, said Thursday that he will meet with more than 60 members of Congress next week to recommend a strategy to remove U.S. troops from Iraq by June.
If Democrats don't take steps to end the war in Iraq soon, they won't be in power very long, McGovern told reporters before a speech at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

"I think the Democratic leadership is wise enough to know that if they're going to follow the message that election sent, they're going to have to take steps to bring the war to a conclusion," he said.

When did the Constitution appoint Congress commander in chief of the armed services? I know these Dimocrats promised to do a lot in their first 100 days, but did they somehow negate Article 2, Section 2 of the Constitution last night when I was asleep?

Greg,

I know you're profoundly unhappy with the way the election went, but maybe your energy would be better spent working for a Republican victory in 2008, instead of posting all these threads blaming the part of TFL that may not have voted Republican. I'm getting a little tired of the tone, myself.

Change your tune, and kindly get over it. We all got the message.

Dang it Marko, I was having a blast being a big baby about this!

I somehow remember hearing that they authorize payment for everything.

Now, GW could always dip into his own pocket and ask corporations to pay out of their pockets (assuming that is legal, which I don't know). But if that happened, you'd witness the biggest and most screeching U-turn in all of history.

McGovern didn't put the Democrats into power voters did. He can go talk to the folks in DC but that doesnt mean anything. While Pelosi has talked about leaving Iraq it wont be done overnight. While folks may talk about leaving Iraq they don't mean drop everything and pull out overnight.

All this means is that the Iraqis need to get serious about what they want to do in Iraq because we will not be there to hold their hand forever.

McGovern has never been gone... He and his leftist ilk, have been busily weasling new ways to manipulate the US and the world...

NOTE: That the Europeon leftists and South American dictators and radical Islam and "illegals" and San Francisco have all rejoiced at the "new" Democrat control of the houses of Congress...

As if they hadn't had control for most of fifty years!

Damn!... Playboypenguin...

Voting is the first, and most important, responibility of a patriotic citizen of the United States...
