Hey all, This is a completely non-helpful reply from corporate. It basically says (interpereting here) that the decision to fire our heroic janitor was made at the franchise level.

Hello Daniel:

Thanks for taking the time to contact McDonald's.

The McDonald's restaurant in Houston where this unfortunate incident happened is
independently owned and operated by a franchisee. This maintenance employee remains
employed with this McDonald's franchisee and while this is a police matter, no charges have
been filed against this employee. We are grateful that no employees or customers were
injured as a result of this incident.

We hope this information is helpful. Again, thank you for taking the time to contact
McDonald's.

I would like to acknowledge the poor decision of the McDonald's Corporation in the Firing of
Willis Lee of the Houston, Tx McDonald's. Realizing that McD's has not had the luxury of gun
free restaurants in the past, it is hardly justifiable that preventing employees from legally
carrying weapons in accordance to applicable laws. Mr. Lee has made that McDonald's a
safer place. How many more armed robberies are likely to transpire? I would say that Lee has
eliminayted possibilities.

It is your corporate policy but there have been many a fast food restaurant nightmarezs that
could have been avoided if citizens were allowed to recognize their rights; Wendy's, Louisiana
Pizza Kitchen, and Luby's.

Hube,

No offense intended, but I hope your spelling wasn't that bad in the letter you actually sent McDonalds.

The corporate letter is correct. Each McD's is own and operated by independent owners. The firing came at this level. Who we should be writting to is the owner of this McD's, not the corporate office. The corporate office set's policy, but it is up to the independent to enforce it. Now if the corporate office threatened to cancel his franchise unless he fired the employee then that would be a different matter.

The debate is not about guns,
but rather who has the ultimate power to rule,
the People or Government.
RKBA!

No my spelling and grammar were better. This was the two posts I mailed home from work cut and pasted. Thanks for the concern though, educated people like guns too.

There is a lot of misinformation, what I heard was that this gentleman was NOT fired!

The mail from coroporate basically confirms (to their knowledge) the continued employment of the janitor. I wish I held the original news article longer so I could correct the author.

Can someone post the address of the McDonalds? I believe it was in the original article.

if I can find the address I will call the restaurant myself as I am in Houston.

NRA? Good. Now join the GOA!

The NRA is our shield, the GOA will be our sword.

The latest version of the NRA/ILA WEB page(if you don't have that bookmarked -shame on you) has a link to the original story and contains the address of the McDonald's.

The latest response from McD's does not state that he is still employed.
