Here ya' go Dangus: www.project21.org/MacArthurFarewell.html

The words of a truly great man who had the guts to strike out at Communism, and, like the rest, paid a price for doing so.

------------------
"Rise like lions after slumber in invanquishable number - Shake your chains to earth like dew which in sleep had fallen on you - Ye are many - They are few."
-Percy Bysshe Shelly (1792-1822)

While we're at it, can someone help me find Omar N. Bradley's speach(es?) in which he said the following:

"The world has achieved brilliance without conscience."
"Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants."
"We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount."

And maybe some more biographical information, too? How 'bout it? Thanks.

And another thing: Why was Mac ostracized for opposing communism?

Thanks Outlaw. That speech is one of the best pro-defense speeches ever written. I love the line where he quote Plato about how only the dead have seen the end of war.
Excellent speech, from an excellent man who got an unfair ending to his career, but fortunately had a nation that loved him in spite of that.
