Maybe it's time to get an AK?!

Lucky me! A friend gave me a folding stock and drum magazine because he no longer has an AK. So... I guess it's time to get my mits on one. Where's a good place and what's a good AK? I was thinking Romanian? but don't know much about AKs. So let's here from you AKoholics.

Sorry

Unless you buy a PREBAN AK, you can't use the folder, and the drum, most likely may not fit..........
And, possibly is illegal to use, IF it does fit..............
Ask for ANSWERS from QUALIFIED FFL Holders on this site............
I suggest posting question on General Discussion Forum.........

The folder is a no-no on post 1989 AKs. Pre ban AKs are pretty expensive.

The drum isn't a big deal on a preban AK or an "Americanized" post ban AK. Depending on who/where the drum was made, it could be worth $100 or more.

If you can get a hold of one for the right price, get it! If not, someone out there has to have one that they are itching to get a folder and a drum for.

The folder is a no-no on post 1989 AKs, but the drum will fit any variant that will accept 3-rounders. There is no restriction on using pre-ban magazines (or drums) in a post-ban rifle (I always feel so ridiculous saying that :) )

Doesn't preclude you from...

Selling the folding stock, and using the money to get a bunch of nice 30-round magazines, or ammo, or a U.S. made fixed stock conversion kit to get rid of the thumbhole furniture on the Romanian, etc. (Hence, the "Americanized" AK reference, above, it's what I did for my Bulgarian SLR-95, see Soupbowl Enterprises, or K-VAR Corporation)

get a mak-90 for 350 nib.these norincos have the best trigger action of any AK PRE OR POST BAN.LOOSE THE FOLDER STOCK.THE drum will fit any AK THAT accepts 30 rnd mags, whick is most all of them.the drum is cool looking but kinda overkill on a semi auto .30 or 40 rnd mags are plenty .75 rnd drums are heavy.i only use my drum for show.like i said it looks real cool.but weighs the gun down.
