ok I been looking at swedish mausers mostly the carl gustafs m96, m38 i just bought one and was curios about the bolt at the very back. it sticks out i been looking at pics and none of the pics i found on the net look like mine. here are pics of what im talking about the first one is what mine looks like the very back of the bolt sticks out. others are in? probably a stupid ? but im curios

Are you looking at cocked vs uncocked? I was looking at the wood on the rifle in the first picture it looks like it has interesting figure.

oh is that why some pics i seen with the end of the bolt sticking out and others with it in? One way is cocked the other is uncocked?
 
That is the case in those pictures. The Swedish Mauser has an added upward projection on the cocking piece (supposedly to allow manual cocking without opening the bolt in case of a misfire) so it is more noticeable when the bolt is cocked than the shorter round piece used in other Mausers.
