I know a lot of people reload, but I have never looked into that. Therefore, I'm not sure if I can afford the .45 ammo for the Dan Wesson Pointman 7. I am thinking about shooting competitively, but that takes a lot of ammo.
Buying a very small amount of factory ammo will pay for an inexpensive Lee press in short order. Most high volume shooters buy cast lead bullets too which drives the cost down much further over buying jacketed bullets.
Pick up brass at the range and you can shoot surprisingly cheap.
I can have 200gr 45acp bullets delivered to my door for $75 per 1,000.
starting practice with a reloader is the right idea.
perhaps 1000 rounds a month for 2+ years to get 'your groove'
lee makes 150 an hour
dillon square deal B makes 400
lee can be a single stage or progressive and do rifle
dillon is self indexing and no rifle.
either will need the same peripheral equipment--about $200 worth.
though more expensive, the dillon will still pay for itself with the first 1000 rounds.
My advice... Dive in head first! Figure out what you need as you go. The sooner you get started, the better. I still think that deciding to get into reloading was one of my top 3 best decisions of 2009.
