Maxfire Speedloaders... I like 'em!

Received a few from Brownells about a week ago. They seem to work great so far. I always had trouble manipulating the mechanical speedloaders quickly (HKS, Safariland, etc.). For those that don't know Maxfires are of a one piece rubber construction similar to speed strips but in a cylinder matching form. Cheap too, 6 for $20. Place the staggered rounds into the cylinder and then strip them off.

My one concern is the stress this method puts on the cylinder crane.

How much downward force is required to separate the loader from the rounds?

Repeated use (as in competition) may end up "torqueing" the crane out of alignment.

Just a thought...

your weak hand, thumb on one side the two middle fingers coming through the frame window on the other, should be supporting and stabilizing the cylinder whenever it is open.

at least that is how we used to do it in PPC shooting.

That hold would prevent the cylinder from closing but doesn't provide any shuppor to the underside.

The speedloaders in question require you to pull them strainght down and off the rounds as they are in the cylinder. {shrug}
