Max and Minimum bullet weight for 1 in 12 twis in 223

I get a 3 1/2 inch groupe with a 55 grain bullet.
I have a 223 shooting with a 60 grain and have a source for 64 grain bullets. Sierra says a 69 grain will not work.

Off the top of your head, can anybody tell me what the top bullet weight is for a 1 in 12 .223 Remmington?

It's actually the length of the bullet that is affected by the twist of the barrel. With that being said, normally the heavier bullets are also the longer ones. I'd suspect that for 1:12, you are close to the edge with a 64gr bullet, and it may end up that it isn't as accurate as the lighter bullets.

Further complicating matters is that the bullet doesn't care about twist rate, really. The bullet is stabilized by rotational inertia, which is a function of RPM.

So.. a "slow" load in 1/12" might not be stabilized, but a "fast" load in 1/12" might be.
