i recently won a maverick shotgun in a raffle, it is a field shotgun with a screw in choke. my question is, is it worth any thing to use for hunting or should i sale? has anyone that owned one have any problems with it?

Keep it, it's a fine gun.

They don't sell for much ($140 new in stores) but they are nice guns.

It is basically a Mossberg 500 with only 2 differences:

1. The forend is simplified, so you can't put a forward pistol grip on it.
2. The safety in on the trigger guard instead of the reciever.

ALL parts are interchangeable with the Mossberg 500 except the forend and trigger assembly. In fact, the Maverick shotguns are made by Mossberg.

If you would keep a Mossberg 500, than you should keep the Maverick. I own both and the Maverick is every bit as good. Mine has been 100% reliable, just like my 500.

maverick field 88

i had to send it back for repairs and got it back a week ago and its still not working properly, i was just wondering if it is a big POS or if i got a lemon and need to request a replacement.

Mine has been an absolutely awesome shotgun. I think you just got a lemon, and ANY gun manufacturer can make a lemon.

Well that's the 2nd time I'd heard of one of their lemons by an actual owner.

The first one was a Maverick model a friends son bought from Wal-Mart.

The thing had feeding jams, in a modern made pump that is pathetic.:barf:
