first of all, i absolutely love this site!

second, i'm a shotgun newbie, so please don't "tan my hide" too aggressively ;)

i just bought a maverick 88 (NIB) for HD. i went through the manual and completed all of the prepping steps...but my fore-end WILL NOT go all the way back...therefore, i cannot chamber a round.

please guide this wayward traveler...do i need to return the shotgun? do i need to contact the manufacturer? i'm a pretty big guy, so i know that i'm not being too gentile

thanks gang

stay safe

i "attempted" a field strip. i get to the step where i remove the bolt slide, but cannot get it out because the fore-end won't go back any further than about halfway

(great vid by the way)

just one thing to check, a lot of new owners of pump actions dont understand that you should forcefully pump the action, if you try to baby it it will hang when it tries to lower the shell carrier, you may already know this but i like to start with the simplest things first

thanks for the help guys

took it back to the gun shop, and there is a pin that is jammed that is causing the fore-end to not work properly. gotta gunsmith working on it, and should be good as new in a day or so.

yaaay!!
