I have 4 mausers 2 7mm mexican and 2 98k german 8mm, Ive seen some great looking custom and some bubba jobs I have 1... Lets see your pics good bad or ugly..
Its very well made, high polish blue, adjustable trigger. The only thing I don't like about the yugo 98 actions is they are a large ring mauser but has the small ring bolt pattern. Nobody makes a sythetic stock to fit the yugo's.
This is my rain/loaner gun, an indescriminate Mauser 98, bought at a N.E. gunshow 35 years ago for $100, already sporterized with a rebarrel to .30-06 & a reblue, and a restock in a Bishop/Fajen type aftermarket sporter stock.
A peep sight installation & a new/low bolt handle finished it off.
It's not much, but since it will keep every shot it holds well under an inch @ 100yds, with the peep, it's not going anwhere else anytime soon.
here is my Kar98AZ 1917 Erfurt..... its a war trophy my Great grandfather brought back from WW1. Passed down to me from his son, my grandfather. its 100% matching #, and still fires true.
When I was checking out stocks on boyds they show the different screw spacing mine measures somewheres between 7 5/8- 11/16 not 7 7/8 like the standard mauser 98
And the following I kept as originally chambered in 8mmx57. The first 2 I just sporterize them and restock, the third was done by Globo, a Canadian importer in the 60, that farm the work n Austria at the time.
K98 with double set trigger.
Husky
K98 sporterized by ??? and imported by Globe

This is the only mauser as close as original that I have...spanish mauser guardia civil arsenal converted to .308 .
I purchase this for $100 from a game warden (... poacher rifle??? ) the previous owner removed the rear sight, drill & tap for a 2 pce scope base, I clean up the wood stock and metal, fill the upper hand guard sight opening with similar wood and install a peep sight... till I decided what to do. As is is a good shooter, but eventually when the inspiration will come, I would build a sporter out of it.

98 F.N. made in 51 mounted in an H&R Ultra stock with Obermeyer sporter barrel in 30-06. Has stripper clip hump ground off. Timney trigger with narrowed trigger guard. Wing safety removed and bolt shroud replaced Needs a reblue now but still shoots as great as it ever did. Tiny cloverleafs at 100 yds.
in Africa the k98's are very popular. i have seen variants of this action used for a custom 505 Gibbs. i have two k98's a 308 Eusta/Voere and a 300H&H custom. the custom is an original k98 Oberndorf-Mauser made in 1902. although the custom is special i have a special fondness for the 308. i inherited it from my father and i shot my first buck with it. it also took 20 wart-hogs 2 kudu 4 blesbuck and 4 sprinbuck and countless smaller stuff like jackal so far for 2010.it is also deadly accurate, to a point that you have to put in some real effort before it misses.
