Mauser scope

I have a 1946 Fabrica de Armas Spanish mauser that I would like to put an era specific scope on. So far I haven't had much luck finding any Spanish rifle scopes, only German and Turkish. Any ideas where I might be able to find one?

If you are looking for "era correct" instead of "historically correct" that opens up a bunch of options.

The one I recommend is the Weaver K4, steel tube El Paso model.

There were no "Spanish" specific scopes for that rifle that I could find any reference to.

Era or historically correct, I'm looking for a scope that would've been on the rifle in 1946. I'll look into the one you mentioned.

I can't find any "historically correct" scopes mounted for the FR8 on an official basis. I have seen pics of an FR8 with a ZF39 optic on top, which would also be "era" correct and not an improbable combination based on the relationship between Germany and Spain prior to WWII.

But a Weaver K4 will be easier to find, although any of the steel bodied Weaver K series scopes (K3, K4, K6) would be correct for the era.

Also, if you happen to see a listing for a Lyman Alaskan- some of those would fit into your time frame. Also, it has a 7/8" tube- at least mine does. And those aren't the most common rings in the world. I guess there's plenty out there, but most of them didn't look right on my Santa Barbara mauser.

In the Rifle magazine there is a fella that regurlarly writes articles on that same rifle and scope configurations. Mike Venturino is his name and I think throughbthe magazine he can be reached by email....That fella knows more about that period of rifle history than anybody....I pedsonally think your searching for a Hensolt, but I could be wrong.

Mike Venturino is awesome, I always look forward to his articles. He should definitly be able to help you out, if you can get ahold of him.

He is a regular contributor (staff) to Handloader and Rifle. Both Wolfe publications, you could probably find contact info on their website. Or pick up a copy of either of those, if I was at home I would grab one and try to help more, sorry.

Edit-1 quick phone call is all it took. Send your question to: wolfepub@riflemag.com

Put 'Mike Venturino' in the subject line, and they will forward it to him.
