Mauser Question...on Stocks

WWII

So, I am in the process of "un-sporterizing" my sporterized Mauser to restore it back to it's military style.

Ebay has a ton of seller of military stocks for the Mauser 98, czeck models, ect.

The way the stocks are cut look like they fit my bolt and trigger floor.

Are all mauser style rifles cut the same? It sure looks like they are but does anyone know for sure if I were to get a German Mauser 98 large ring stock could I fit my Spanish Modelo mauser fittings to the military stock.

I have studied the pictures of the 98 military stocks and it looks like it'll work and I am assuming since Mauser rifles all have the same distinctive bolt design that they are somewhat universal.

A lot of the Czech VZ-24 stocks do not have the cutout on the right side for the turned down bolt, and the handguard is different. If you have a German K98k, get a K98k stock. Ideally try and get one that is the correct type for your action, generally if it is 1940 or earlier a flat butt-plate, or cupped from late 1940 on.

Boyds also makes a replacement stock, but I believe there is be some fitting required, and they are a little fatter than the originals. They are pretty though.

on edit: Be careful with Yugo stocks, the Yugo action is slightly shorter, and the stock won't work on a standard M98. I am not 100% sure if this was all Yugo rifles, or just the M48, so do your homework.

98/yugo

emcon is right, a yugo stock(m24/47, m48, m48a) will not fit a standard 98 action as it is too short. as far as fitting a vz24 to a 98, i believe it will work, but cannot verify, as far as a spanish I have no clue.

OK, evidently I need to clean my glasses, because I completely missed the "Spanish" reference.

Now I remember your other thread:

If it really is a 1916, the action should be a 1893, which may be a little harder to find a stock for, not to mention the sights, and all the other parts you need to put it back to military trim.

(Unless you get lucky and find one on gunbroker) :D
