I just recently traded for a Mauser a lot like the one in this link post except it does not have the fancy engraving on the bottom metal and its a 30-06. this is the rifle that I am talking about: http://fnforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=9046. the barrel had a FN on the barrel and says something about it being vanadium on it. the action has a 1948 mark on the side opposite of the bolt handle right about the stock line. I think it also says Firearms International right after that. I don't have the rifle here so I am not 100% on the last part. it also has a firearms international crest on the top of the ring area. so I am not sure if it is a Firearms International rifle or what for sure. the stock has a metal butt plate and looks just like the one in the pics. oh it also has the bolt handle knob with the flat spot on the one side. so anybody have a clue what it is worth and what model it is? no body on the Mauser forum seems to know anything really. all the F.N made Mauser's I have seen the ring area of the action is marked with the F.N crest so I am fairly sure that it's a Firearm International rifle. the one thing I am having a hard time with is the barrel marking are not correct for a Firearms International rifle. all the ones I have seen have different markings on the barrel. I am thinking its either some rare or really early model. or maybe a action that somebody put a different barrel on. it looks all factory so I am not to sure.
