Mauser help.

I picked this up today. I only can see one stamp that looks like over layed SM or SW (second picture). Also on the underside of the bolt handle there is the number 29 I believe and on the back of the stock(on the wood) I see faint triangles with circles in them. Also a diamond with something inside. Hope I made sense. Right behind the rear sight there is a # that starts with a "G" followed by 4 numbers.

I also cannot pull the bolt. What is the trick?

Is this 7 or 8 mm? Thanks for reading :)

That's a "Type I" you have there----a Carcano with a Mauser type magazine, made for the Japanese by the Italians---for reasons unknown.
To remove the bolt, pull the trigger and the bolt will come out to the rear.
Caliber is 6.5 Arisaka.

Looks like a Manlicher Schoenauer to me. If it is, then it would fire 8x56 Manlicher or 6.5mm Manlicher. You should be able to tell pretty quickly by looking at the bore diameter.

Can't tell much from the pics you posted, but I'm not a Manlicher guy, you might try over at the Curio and Relic topic.

EDIT: The Carcano rifle was based on the Manlicher so I guess I wasn't too far off.

I think it is a Carcano

I found a picture of one and it is exactly the same. Even the shape of the trigger guard is identical.

What is one of these little guys worth? It has one crack(mild) along one side of the stock and missing the butt plate and cleaning rod.

There isn't very many markings on this rifle either.

Oh and it has a notch in the stock which I think gives it character.

Thanks for the help.
