I have rebuilt and spoterized several Mausers. For me, I free float the barrel and pillar bed the action. The double stock screws are very strong and if you are using a good stock, the receiver will go no where. Sometimes it is necessary to add a small amount of bedding compound just under the front of the receiver just where it mates to the barrel. All this does is tighten up slop from a loose stock to receiver fit.
