Cleaning out my grandmothers house and found one of these in the nightstand. At first I thought, "well, not surprised she packed a pistol in the night stand, but that is the ultimate mousegun," then I took a better look and realized it is a cap gun. Took it to my dads and he said "Oh yeah, I remember when your great grandparents brought those back from Europe for us. Grandma took it away almost immediately. All I remember was they were REALLY loud, especially in the house."

Here is the interesting thing though. Lots of these online in pretty good condition and even a few with nice boxes, but almost no ammo. This one must have 50 shots or more with it.

Looks like the caps are worth more than the gun!

Dad says it was taken away after one of them was burned while playing with them...

I saw an episode of Pawn Stars where a lady brought one of those in. I believe hers was made in Austria but I don't recall for sure. Apparently they still make them. They gave her $20 for it. Obviously it is more of a novelty item than anything and I would not pay more than a few bucks for one. They probably have more sentimental value to the person who has gotten it passed down through the family for generations than to the person who would walk into a store and buy it as a conversation piece.

Pass it down

Very interesting indeed. I have never seen one of these before.

Never get rid of it, just pass it down through the family. Its pieces like this that make excellent conversations. I would love to know how she came about it.
