Match grade polygonal barrel

Is a polygonal match grade barrel (like some Kahrs) any more accurate than a conventional match grade barrel, on say a Kimber 1911?:confused:
 
Short answer. No

A polygonal barrel is supposed to give a little more velocity. And if you want to shoot lead, there are some issues to be addressed.

Supposed to work well with monolith bullets. (solid copper)
 
If they were significantly better, you would read about them winning all the matches and all the bullseye shooters would junk their old cut or button rifled barrels and buy polygonal rifled barrels. Lacking that bit of supporting evidence, I will have to agree that there is no superior quality that can be rightly attributed to polygonal rifling barrels.
 
I have barreled a couple of match winning rifles with Schneider P5 polygonal barrels. Very accurate? Yes. Superior? Not to other premium match grade barrels
 
Hah! You meant the rifling. Never mind.

I know there have been issues with lead bullets stripping and plugging the corners of the polygon in some instances, so you might not want to use polygonal rifling with cast bullets.
