I saw this over at a FAL message board. A firearms ID card? I don't know if this guy is for real but I checked out the website and the gun law is! *&%%#^$@*%*!!!!!!

"I know this really does not belong here, but I wanted the reader of this
board who have helped me to here this first hand. My name is Bernie
Cross and I am a voter, a veteran, homeowner, father, and a Cub Scout
Leader. I am not what you'd call a conservative or extremist. I live in
Massachusetts. Last month I was required by the new firearms law to
renew my permit. On May 28th i was told that my permit was denied and
that as of June 3rd my pocession of ANY FIREARM or ammo will be a
felony! I had until then to sell or surrender my weapons. No questions, no
grace period, no appeal. I have spoken with an lawyer and been told that
I can appeal but it's futile due to the structure of the law. My permit is
denied because of a single brush with the law 18 years ago that resulted
in a misdo meaner charge for simple assault. I was forced to move all my
arms & ammo to another state where I can safely store them. I am now
facing thousands in legal fees to either obtain a pardon from the State
where the offense occurred or get a court to vacate the finding. This is
the law that the Congress is planning to use for a National model! You
must wake up! I never dreamed this could happen in America, let alone
to me. The official I spoke with in Boston said that he estimates that
35,000 legal gun owners are being stripped of their right to own
weapons. That include 1200 police officers who have minor records! Do
yourselves a favor and check out "GOAL.org" for a good overview of the
law. You still have a chance to stop this before it come to you. If you
wish to contact me I can be reached at B1Cross@aol.com."

No way, no how, never.

The recurring theme seems to be registration followed by confiscation.

This is one reason I am nervous about our Concealed Handgun License in Texas. However, it is important to note that only the person is registered - not the firearm. Therefore, it would seem that the dangerous sign is firearm registration. If...okay... WHEN that occurs, that should be confirmation that confiscation is impending. Never register more than you are willing to lose. Ensure nobody knows what you have. Encourage others to understand what's happening, enlist their cooperation in the resistance.
It is never too early to resist tyranny.

Dennis has it pretty much right on.

Register only what you can afford to lose. As well, I'd advise getting into reloading as ammo purchases (at least here in CA) are recorded.

I'm in CA and no one has ever recorded any ammo I purchased. Are you sure that's not specific to your city or county?

Ewok...

Except for .22 and shotgun ammo, all other ammo (pistol and rifle) I've ever bought was recorded...San Diego, Davis, Sacramento and my county
