mason dixon commemmorative questions

Picked this up a week ago on GB for 160.00 shipped. appears unfired with a slight turn ring. nickle plating is excellent. No scratches. Grips are just a skoshe to small for the TG and BS framing. She looks realy nice and it's the only one I've seen that was nickle plated.
Date stamp is 1981.
Maker is the triangle with what looks like the ASM logo under the loading lever.
The Left side of the barrel says "Mason Dixon Commemorative 1502"
So the question is: Have any of you guys seen these over the years?
The 1502 stands for the 1,502 days it took to survey the line I assume.
I haven't seen any images of these or numbers on amount manufactured.
Just curious about the history of this particular model.

...For the lead. As well as helping me find his sight again. I had stumbled upon it about a year ago and neglected to bookmark it. Very nice reference sight.

Mason Dixon

This is the first time I have run into this commemorative. I would speculate that is is a private edition commissioned by someone connected with the Mason Dixon survey. Armi San Marco did many of these limited editions. I did a little research and found one on the Auction Arms site. It sold for $276 with 10 bids. I also found a Mason Dixson Commemorative Knife produced in 1984.
