George, How much is it to change either the bolt action or automatic from 7.5 to 7.62. I've done the gas block adjuster and after doing that as simple as it was I wonder how much difference there really is between the two. At the price difference the obviously don't take the whole gun down for a ream and rebore. What are your thoughts? Something that can be done in a modest shop? I love the guns but hate the 7.5. Mike, the price difference you see in these guns reflect production line work. If you are set up to do one certain step in the conversion and you do hundreds you can do the work for much much less than someone who does them one at a time. If your modest shop has a lathe large enough to do barrel work it's simply a matter of removing the barrel, facing or cutting off approx 1/2" from the breech, setting the shoulder back the same amount, rechambering and recutting the metric threads on the 49/56. The 36 are US threads. Then you shorten the gas tube, forend and handguard. That's what's involved. There is no shortcut that I know of. George

Mike if they did that the prices would jump about $100 at least. I seriously doubt that they are even test fired. I'm told that the newer conversions are better in this respect but you can't tell it from the e-mail I get and the number of these rifles I work on. George
