Maryland Hunting

Does anyone here hunt in Maryland and if so when does the 07-08 season end? How strict are the laws I live in FL. and we are sort of relaxed but my dad is in MD. I was thinking of going on a trip up there to hunt but he has found any info for me. I don't think he's trying.

Which season?

Which season do you mean?

Assuming deer, muzzleloader season began Thurs, Oct 18, and runs through Oct 20, antlered (only 1) and antlerless, and is Oct 22-27, antlerless only, and Dec 15-29, antlered and antlerless. Gun season is Nov 24 - Dec 8, and Jan 4-5. This is for Region B (everything except the two westernmost counties). Shotgun with slugs only in most of Region B also. Look here

Yes, confusing, but this is Maryland, after all.

I believe you can hunt with a smoke pole throughout the rifle season too. At least thats what MD-DNR told me when I called.

I found their rules and guidebook to be pretty confusing too.

You can always hunt with a more primitive weapon in MD (bow/blackpowder during firearms season). Bow season ends on 30 January 2008. bag limits depend on county.

I couldn't believe the bag limits when I was there - it was insane. I think it was 1 deer/day for the length of the bow season, as long as you wanted to keep buying tags. This was north of DC.

Of course there was nowhere to hunt...

Hop in the back of a friend's pickup, and stick them with an arrow in the front yards as you drive through a Montgomery County neighborhood. Toss 'em in the back and pretty soon you'll be knee-deep in venison, and all the "progressives" who'd rather see them die of CWS, have them live captured and transfered to Manitoba, or put on birth control pills will be chasing after you waving writs wristily.

But, "no" on the limit; it's actually

Daily Limit
In all counties, there is no restriction that applies to the number of deer that may be taken per day within the season bag limits unless otherwise specified.

and

Counties: Anne Arundel*, Baltimore*, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Frederick, Harford, Howard*, Kent, Montgomery*, Prince George’s*, Queen Anne’s, St. Mary’s, Somerset, Talbot, Washington, Wicomico, Worcester Counties.
* Suburban Deer Archery Zone of Region B: For bow hunting only- unlimited antlerless deer may be taken in these counties during the open bow season only.

Outside the Suburban Deer Archery Zones identified with * above, it's 2 antlered and 10 antlerless per weapon season (bow, primitive, gun) for a possible total of 36, but you have to take a minimum of 2 antlerless and buy a bonus antlered deer stamp ($10 resident, $25 non) before taking #2 with horns.

Above for Region B only. Region A (two westernmost counties) limits are 1 antlerless and 1 antlered per weapon season.
