Marlin XT-17

Im looking to get a.17 here in a few months. Never shot them but everything I have heard
Has been positive. I was looking to get a savage. Check out the savage 93r17.
 
Saturday evening we were at our local walmart, and they had these for only $180-$190. Are these made cheaper for walmart, or are they the same as you would find anywhere else? Also, what kind of scope would you put on this rifle?
 
I think it is the same gun. Only difference in any of them is the sub-model such as stock, bull barrel, SS etc. I had one a few years ago in .22WMR and it was an excellent rifle. I sold it to a friend and got a Savage 93 in 17HMR with varmint barrel. Based on my experience you won't go wrong with either.
 
I have the xt-22 model and like it. Only problem is the extractor is finacky. Gettings parts for them is like pulling teeth as i've learned
