Thanks for setting me straight. Assuming both of you are a normal sized people my next thought is that maybe this scope has really short eye relief. That being the case, you are either going to have to move the scope back or replace it with a scope with longer eye relief.
Like I said earlier, Leupold extended rings will probably give you about an inch or so. With their extended rings, you get one funky shaped ring that is offset and one normal one. Using the normal one in back and the funky one in front with the offset facing the butt you can move the scope back until either the turrent bumps into the rear ring or the bell bumps into the front ring. I can't see the bell in your picture, but if you will have receiver clearance problems when backing the scope up you can go to high or extra high rings to give more vertical clearance.
