Does anyone own a Marlin XL7C ? If so have you had any problems sighting it in ? I bought a new one last year in Win. 270. I have shot 3 boxes of ammo through it and still am not getting any groups that are even close to decent.
I shot a box of PMC ammo, 130 grain bullets, and two boxes of handloaded ammo. Both boxes of handloaded :confused:were Winchester brass, 130 grain Hornady GMX bullets, pushed by 58 grains of H4831 powder. I've made sure that all screws are properly tightened both on the rifle and on the scope. By the way i have a Nikon 3x9 scope mounted on it. I'm not getting any grouping at all. I have holes scattered all over the target at 100 yds. I would appreciate any suggestions.

I have this same rifle my most accurate hand load with 130 nosler Btips
is 62.0 gr of RL22. And I load with bullet touching the lands.
nosler load book #6 says most accurate for h4831 is 62.5 gr.
But the most accurate powder is imr4350 59.0 gr for 3051 fps.

Thanks alot for your input. I'll try a few more different loads and see what happens, and may try a different scope also. Okie 2 i was wondering if you did anything to the rifle when you got it like free floating the barrel or anything else that could make a difference.

I have a .270 that is sub 1 inch at 100 yards with factory Hornady 130 SST ammo. I have tried 2 other factory loads Fusion 130 and good ole Core Lokt 130 that haven't even been 1 1/2 at that distance either. No problem with mine at all.

I tried to hand load some 6mm core locks they even missed the whole target at 100 when hornady and nosler were 1/2 moa.
Remington bullets are junk.
