Marlin XL7

I have one in .270 and I'm really happy with it. It shoots sub-moa (.6" @ 100yds) with 150gr. Hornady Interlocks and is a breeze to shoot. Nice adjustable trigger and well made, and at just under $300, it's easy on the wallet. Hope that helps.

ndking1126.....i didnt do better than you, time proved more knowledge. That is all. Thanks to all responders.

/agree on the XS7. It's the same price but with some neat features like a fluted bolt and an adjustable trigger. Hoping to get one next saturday!

Can't wait. Comes in .25-06, .270 Win, and .30-06 iirc.

A small correction if I may....The XS7 is the new short action version of the XL7. Both share like features, such as fluted bolt, adjustable trigger (easy), and pillar bedding. The XS7 is available in .243, 7mm-08, and .308 (there's a typo on Marlin's page), while the XL7 comes in 25-06, .270, and 30-06. The XL7 is also now available with a wood stock...nice.

Oh, and Flumph, I know you're looking for a rifle, you should look into these, you won't be disappointed. And American made too!;)

I read your other thread, Flumph, and if I can give my opinion, I think the .243 would suit your needs to a "T". Good for anything from vermin to Texas Whitetail, flat shooting, and all with a very mild recoil. Just my $.02.

Lol, random, but that was your 243rd post talking about the .243 caliber. I chuckled.

Apologies if i'm stealing this thread, but yeah i agree that .243 would be a great round. I'm between that and .30-06 if i want to shoot down any helicopters ;).

My main worry is ammo cost...

Pertaining to the thread, is 7mm-08 a good caliber to get the XL in? I hear it's a real kicker. I like kickers.

Flumph...you seem like a very respectful young man....I am only worried that your joking around about shooting down helicopters may draw unwanted attention. With that out of the way, the .243 is a great choice. I would lean towards the 25-06 if I were making the purchase. The only reason for leaning towards the 25-06 is b/c I already have a .243. :)
