Marlin To The Range Tomorrow

Taking my newly purchased Marlin 336CS 35Rem (pre 1984) to the range tomorrow. What kind of groups should I expect at 100yds with the stock sights? I will be using Federal 200gr factory ammo.

Personally, I couldn't do better than 3 inches at 100 yards with Marlin's factory sights even if the gun were chambered in 6mm Benchrest. Some folk's can do wonders with those sights but they are few and far between.

You may be much better than me but I think mechanically your limited to around 2 inches at best, tack on another inch or two spread becuase of the sights and I'd leave happy with nice round groups of 3 1/2 inches or so. Which is plent good for 90% of Deer shots in my area. Good Luck!

If groups are not what you want, try a reciever sight such as a redfield or lyman if you can fine one.Williams sights are OK also but I like the first two choices better for my use.The Ashley Ghost ring sight is probably better yet.I have not used one but plan to get one soon for a 95Winchester.
