for those of you who have a marlin Model 70P papoose rifle takedown 22.r, what kind of groups are you guys getting. I like marlin guns, and am hoping that they are substantially more accurate than an ar-7 carbine(4-6 inch group at 50 yards)

I have been looking at those little Marlins too----compared to an AR-7, there is no comparison---the Marlin wins hands down. I would think it will easily shoot better groups than what you're talking about. The Marlin seems to be a much higher quality product. Let us know if you get one and how it shoots.

I shot one once. It wore a nice Leupold 3-9x scope. The owner claimed it could shoot 1" at around 70 yards easy, but when I tried it my best group was about 2 1/2" at that distance. Still thats pretty good for a takedown.

marlin takedown 22lr accuracy?

IN GENERAL,
A take down rife is just like sighting in a scope. Each time you take a scope off your rifle, if you want the same impact again, you must put it back in EXACTLY THE SAME SPOT.

This is, for the most part, IMPOSSIBLE. .0001 counts.

Madison,

While I agree with you in theory, real life with a 70PSS is a little different. Both sights are on the barrel and my experiance with mine has been pretty good. It will shoot 1 to 1 1/2 " groups at 25 yards and does not change point of impact when I take it down and put it back together. For the money, it is a fine little .22. Thats my $.02 and YMMV. :D
